Pwllheli is the unofficial capital of The Llyn Peninsula, in Northwest Wales.

Much of The Llyn Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Pwllheli is an ideal base to explore this area, as well as nearby Snowdonia, Anglesey and the western coast of Wales.

Pwllheli is a busy market town with a weekly market on Wednesday in Y Maes. The market is one of the busiest in Britain, and you’re bound to find a good bargain! Also in the town centre you will find many shops, selling everything you need. The town is full of seaside character.

We are approximately 2 miles from the coast, and 13 miles from Wales’ highest mountain Snowdon, many varied outdoor interests are catered for on your doorstep should you decide to visit the Lleyn Peninsula.

Try bird watching, hill, forest and coastal walks, golfing, climbing, sea, river and coarse fishing or even have a go at water sports at either the world famous Plas y Brenin outdoor centre in Capel Curig or Plas Menai in Felinheli which is located between Caernarfon and Bangor.

Sailing, canoeing, surfing, snorkeling, or relaxing on one of the numerous safe, sandy beaches, on the 50 mile Lleyn coast, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. South of Anglesey and West of Snowdon, the Lleyn Peninsula is within 2 hours drive of Chester and Shrewsbury. The 50 mile Heritage Coast is a haven for nature lovers and regularly enjoys its own micro climate; with the Gulf Stream lapping the shores, it is noted for its mild winters.

Nowhere else in Britain will you find such variety, in such a compact area, as you will in Snowdonia - or Eryri as it is known in Welsh. There are many things to do and see in Snowdonia.

The Snowdonia National Park forms a huge, high landscape, stretching southwards from the Conwy river as far as Machynlleth, and eastwards to Bala.

All of the classic mountain ranges are here, Snowdon itself, Tryfan, the Glyderau, the Moelwynion, Aran and Arennig, and Cader Idris.

The Llanberis Lake Railway is one of the Great Little Trains of Wales. Of 1ft 11½in gauge, it operates between Gilfach Ddu and Penllyn, along two miles of track on the shore of Llyn Padarn (Llanberis Lake) in the heart of Snowdonia, the National Park set in the north west corner of Wales
.
